Is this right?

Is it fair to revoke the legit wins from people who have been banned for hacking before?

Full bright is still a form of hacking.

Hacking generally means that your client has a form of modification which gives the user an unfair advantage over others. Full bright falls under this, and yes it probably will not affect PVP but still is an unfair advantage.
So it gives no advantage for PvP so getting unfair wins would not be a problem. And also can I point out that the evidnece gived was 5 months old at the time and is not about 14 months old.

Get outta here!
Hacked once 2 years ago

"Get outta here" doesn't really work in this context does it? How about you get out my thread if all you want to do is hate!

Anyone heard of a thing called false bans? ;)
I do know about false bans as well, I was trying to leave my topic off that though becasue I thought that would be better for a diffrent thread. Then again I guess we started on that now so this thread would be the best place for it.

Yes, it's completely fair. You shouldn't hack and you get what you deserve.

EDIT: Now that I'm thinking about it it seems a bit too extreme. They should be removed from the legacy leaderboards but they deserve a chance on the new one

I'm shocked and insulted by what you've stated, Iambester911.

With only one post, you've managed to call us, "ignorant" who are, "spitting on us all" and are characterized as, "just plain out rude to your own loyal followers." You continue still to assume that we will, "[brush you] away like [you are] dust, like [we] usally (sic) do." And then you make the claim that this is all just an excuse for greed, assuming that, "this is just another way for MCSG to leech even more money out of us". The policy isn't even active, nor is the update, yet you've clearly already decided that we are, "being unfair to [our] own community", and have already made plans to, "move to one of your opposing servers and I feel even though I dislike the server more than this one I will enjoy it more there".

I would be wholly justified in banning you for the insults you've made against us, especially since you started advertising for other communities (I've edited that out). And boy, is it tempting.
But I haven't banned you for your insults against us, and I won't (unless you keep this up).

Despite your insistence that the Administration "don't see [you] as an idividual (sic)" and that you "are not people to [us]", we are still willing to work with you towards a solution, something your post lacks in lieu of more insults. Perhaps instead of jumping to conclusions and reaching for ad hominem attacks against a policy that is not even active yet, you could focus that energy into something productive like offering solutions and alternatives.

Thankfully, cooler heads have prevailed here. I have talked it over with Chad, and I've made an update to the Leaderboards Update post. Read it HERE.
Essentially, we've taken everything that has been said by all players concerned about that policy change into account. We have modified the policy proposal and made it more clear. Most importantly to everyone reading this now, the rule will only apply to users after the update occurs.

That being said, let me be clear about what the Administration things regarding this policy. Hackers are something that the community wants us to come down hard on. We are always told that hacking offenses should be first-time permanent bans, but we stick to our guns in saying that such a policy would not be wholly fair. However, the mindset remains: hacking is a serious offense that must be taken seriously. As such, we must take every measure to prevent and deter people from hacking, in addition to addressing the current hackers. This policy is aimed at the people who hack in order to be competitive on the leaderboard; by threatening them with deranking from the leaderboard, we hit the in something they care most about.

The fact of the matter is that the current perception of hacking is, "one moment of hacking = a lifetime of punishment". If a player uses hacks to only earn one kill, that is a crime that cannot be forgiven no matter how loyal of a player they may be. They cheated for personal gain, and thus they have breached the trust of the community and thus misrepresent themselves in leaderboards. As such, they are not deserving of equal treatment alongside players who have always played fairly.

Players who are reformed hackers are the most unique and tricky players to deal with because they are a minority of players that the common player doesn't believe exists; you guys are unicorns. But we are trying to fix a large, ugly, complicated issue here, and as such we cannot please everyone.

Because the policy (and the people behind it) that this thread is attacking have yet to be fully decided, this thread really doesn't have a purpose beyond speculation and hate. Once a formal decision is made and announced, and you still don't feel that it is justified, then you can make another thread.
Until then, Thread Locked.
