You'll be able to change your name when Mojang fully support it, at the moment, they are waiting for enough users to use 1.8, which will be probably be around the time optifine will be released

Name changing was never planned for 1.8; it's a common misconception that it was. However, 1.8 was needed to change some things in the game to make name changing possible.


At least you can still use 1.7 on our servers!

I think the update is pretty cool! I dislike, though, that Minecraft is starting to look like it has built-in mods. My FPS has also been hurting since 1.8 (I will be extremely happy when OF comes for 1.8.)

I was just quoting what Mojang said; I personally don't see any more changes in 1.8 that allow name changes, but I do remember them saying that it wouldn't be until after 1.8.

I personally don't like the 1.8 update because I've been playing Minecraft for a long time and it feels like the game is changing too much

The... Main... Part... of... the... update... wasnt... Name Changing... THEY HAVE SAID TWICE IT WAS JUST A SIDE PROJECT THAT WILL NOT COME OUT WITH 1.8 AND WILL COME OUT A SHORT TIME AFTER.
(Sorry about getting so angry its just a really big pet peve of mine when people say things like that and the creators clearly stated it is not going to happen, or in this case wont happen for a while)

Everything is awesome and fun, but now Minecraft looks like a modpack. Really fun tho.
The PvP changed tho are really bad.
1st: They buffed the bow and now it goes further.
2st: The rod got nerfed. The fishing rod has now a 1sec delay and you can't rod spam. And now it is slower and goes I think 4-5 blocks the most.

Rod spamming is a tactic that I use quite frequently on different PvP servers, oh well, look on the bright side, at least I'll be able to still cast the rod even though there is a slight delay.. :/

The bow changes aren't too bad though, but I think it's a bit OP if it goes further out more.

Eh, Mojang with weapons.. They just want to tweak them out and make them more OP, and more dangerous .
