Hello everyone, before we delve into this I just want to say that I am not targeting this thread at anyone in any sense, but I do feel the need to say this and I hope that people are understanding of my viewpoints.

So recently on these forums I've been noticing a "Depression" thread or a thread that's saying "I'm having Suicidal Thoughts" by different users nearly every day, and I honestly wish it would stop. I'm trying to think of how to say this without sounding rude, but after thinking about it I really don't think there's a way:

I think that some people (Not all people) who are making these threads are just craving for people to praise them or speak highly of them. I can remember hearing about a user who faked his own death in the MCGamer community just to see how people would respond and so he could see who would feel bad for him. I don't see these threads as much different (Maybe not to that extreme, but they're of similar intentions).

The people who make these threads will always fall into a similar format 99% of the time. They'll say they're depressed, they don't know what to do, etc. I have to ask: why do we need these threads? I get the person needs to vent, but do you really have to do it on the MCSG forums? To be honest, I really don't want to be reading about kids who say they want to commit suicide. It makes me frustrated reading it and it's just not a pleasant thought, and I honestly can't stand it. Look, I get they might be having a hard time, but to make a thread that says you're depressed and you want to commit suicide and that thread serves no other purpose but to have people tell you "how awesome you are" just makes me think really negatively of the people who made the threads.

Now on the topic of depression. Depression is a serious mental issue that people get diagnosed as and sometimes even the best of medications and treatments can't fix their problems. The kids/teens on this forum who are saying they are "Depressed" because of things (That typically every single kid or teen in the world has gone through) is honestly like a slap in the face to people who are actually depressed. Depression is not something you can self-diagnose: but I can guarantee you nearly every single person on these forums who said they were depressed did just that.

All in all, it's a serious topic that many people seem to abuse just to get "positive messages" from others, which is just downright, well, pathetic. It's pathetic that people are using things like depression and suicide to get that kind of feedback, half the time I wonder if they even know what they're doing. To anyone who is going to make a "suicidal thoughts" or "depression" thread I would say to you not to do it, but rather instead to talk to some friends about it if you desperately need to vent. If it's truly bad enough consult a psychiatrist, but you don't need to make a thread about it on a forum dedicated to a video game, and I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone make a thread like this before. I hope people can see where I'm coming from with this.

I meant that I feel you were motivated to create this thread because of the thread I posted.

Quote thing isn't working for me...

People are looking for positive reinforcement into their declining mental state, is that such a problem? The way I see it is, if you don't like the threads, don't read them.

Then again, I understand what you mean when you say they're not needed here. The thing is, the people that post them probably don't care that you don't want to see them.

That's just the thing: lots of times they're not even in a "declining mental state", they're just craving to have people to tell them how "awesome" they are. You'll also occasionally see "I might leave" threads and after enough people tell them how great they are they "Decide" to stay, like they were actually leaving.

Nobody is being forced to tell them how awesome they are

People can do what they want to imo. It's a forum, if they want to seek help from their internet friends, they should be allowed to as long it's in off topic discussions. You don't have to read them.

Literally just about to say that.

It's the internet, you can't stop people from seeking positive reinforcement.
