I'm not 100% sure if this is correct, (tell me if i'm wrong) Mincraft is removing donator ranks/ donations. Apparently we aren't allowed to buy things ingame. This is an issue being talked about all over MC. Although MCGamer might go down with the lack of money, if it can stay up I have an idea for the players that donated prior to those privileges being taken away.

MCGamer should give old donors VIP, Friend, or create a whole new rank just for them. The players who already bought donor before this update will feel cheated, they wasted their money for nothing. I also think MCGamer could pair up/ Partner with big youtubers who's main series is on the MCG network. I'm sure, if they find the most dedicated MCG YouTuber out there, they will be willing to help.

Thoughts?

Mojang is only upset about the servers who charged way too much for donor perks. They haven't made a final decision as far as I'm aware, so this wouldn't take effect quite yet.

It's dodgy servers offering $2000 donor ranks and in-game items for ludicrous prices that when kids buy, disgruntled parents contact Mojang asking where their money is and asking for a refund that Mojang is trying to stamp out here. Developers have already stated that MCGamer will not go down without a fight against the EULA.

As it stands, VIP is a special rank and Friend is removed until further notice.

All donors running about with VIP would ruin it for those who earned it.

I think you may have your facts wrong.
Edit: Please let me know if the images do not show up properly.

You can still accept payment for access to your servers! (Whitelisting)

Donations are still legal!

You can still be paid for advertisements and sponsorships.

Selling items is A-OK as long as it doesn't affect gameplay, such as swords, tools, armor, blocks, etc. - Hats, pets, etc. are allowed.

IRL money for in-game money is a no-no.

How does this affect MCSG, you may ask?
  • Bounty for Donors. At this time, donors gain extra points every month. Points can be used to sponsor. This perk will have to be removed.
  • Donor Priority (Kicking people in full servers) is still legal, according to a tweet by Dinnerbone, or so I heard.
  • Different colored names, chat, pets, and flying in the Lobby/Hub is still legal, since it does not affect gameplay.

And I wrote a thread trying to break it down here: http://www.minecraftsurvivalgames.c...ales-donations-and-other-monetisation.111755/

Flying does affect gameplay. It doesn't affect competitive gameplay, but flying in the Hub/Lobby is a gameplay feature nonetheless. Therefore, to withhold it from non-paying users would seem to be against this explanation of the EULA.

They mean game-changing features, like the ability to use creative mode on strictly SMP servers. If the hub/lobby fly was considered in violation of the rule, then all other Platinum-exclusive perks would be too (colour codes, name colours, pets, etc).

The other perks are mostly cosmetic, like the pets and color codes. But flying is a feature by its nature.

Yes this is somewhat true, but flying does not in any way give you an advantage in the ACTUAL GAME of MCSG. Sure you can explore more of the lobby, but you can't do anything ingame to help you win or do any better than if you were a non-donor.
