I don't see 'gg rekt' or anything like that from youtubers which are big enough to actually have some sort of influence. I think a lot of it is down to people seeing it from others in-game and joining in for some stupid reason. Nowadays, if I die I leave as soon as I do in order to avoid the rubbish they spout. No matter what the circumstances are, I view someone saying 'GG' as arrogant and annoying, saying it after killing someone is mostly not needed. If you think it's a good game, keep it to yourself. Because I'm sure the person who has just died doesn't want to hear it.

(Not sure if my views of the word 'GG' are shared by others. Tell me what you think)

I played a game last night for some odd reason, and I ended up winning. After taking out a team of two (miraculously) I wanted to let them know that I enjoyed the fight. But instead of saying, "GF", I said, "Good fight." After I won the game itself, instead of saying, "GG", I said, "Good Game".
That's an easy way to help promote the more friendly usage of the term. If there was a sort of "swear filter" that changed GG to Good Game and GF to Good Fight, along with canceling out words such as Rekt, then there might be a smaller issue with things like that.

Yeah. I totally agree that things such as nub, rekt, eZ and any other derogatory term should be censored by the filter. In addition, I guess when the term isn't abbreviated it seems more friendly to an extent. Maybe it's to do with the fact that you can tell they mean it if they take the time to actually type it out. xD

There is an absolutely massive mental difference. On paper it might not appear that much nicer, but after you think about it for a few seconds, it gives off a much more positive general impression. It's simple things like this that people need to take into account before saying things like, "GG". Think, does the person I'm saying it to think that I mean it in a bad way? Did we have an honest, fun fight?

In this type of game there will always be competitive players. To be honest the good and friendly players are not as competitive. Even though we do like some rivalry as it is the Hunger games. But people just take it to far.
I agree 100% that there will always be competitive players in the community, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But those players don't need to act like fools when they kill other players. I'd actually look up to a good amount of players in the top clan community if they acted mature while in game. A good example to take from this is the Major League Gaming community. The general age is around that of what you'd expect to be the really competitive players on Minecraft (maybe slightly older), and they tend to act extremely mature when out at competitions where everyone is watching. Consider when the top players play on the public servers of MCG, that everyone is watching them, so they should probably not act like a 12 year old who just got his first Xbox and Call of Duty that day and is ready to "rek sum scrubs yaaaa".

Oh so many fond memories of CoD4 and MW2.

Do you have cod4 on steam? If so, you are the best person on the planet.

I do! It's on my first steam profile though, which was recently hacked into. Working on getting it returned. CoD4 is probably one of my favorite multiplayer games of all time. I've put more hours into that game during my two year run on it than any other game out there probably. Minecraft might be getting close though! Haha.

That's unfortunate that it was hacked into. I'm just exploring other PC games as opposed to Minecraft. Was never a hardcore console cod player, so I'm taking a PC approach and starting out on cod4 which is incredibly fun from my experience so far!

Yeah, it was an old one I created years ago, but I eventually switched over to a new steam which hasn't ever been targeted. Not sure why my first one is, luckily it doesn't have much on it. I'm fans of either console gaming or PC gaming, though I've always leaned towards PC gaming/FPShooters. My friends back in highschool and middleschool all played console games, so I was stuck with playing those for a while also. FPS' are eons better on the PC than on consoles though, that's for sure.

I'll try not to derail the thread anymore, feel free to PM me after this if you want to keep chatting about it.

I agree with a lot of what most people have said on here and it definitely is a problem on MCSG so maybe we can all work together to fix it.

I'll keep my post short and sweet.
The larger YTers don't generally act like this from what I've seen.
Yep, always how it works. People who have small channels think they need to act all cool to attract subs. Big youtubers already do it naturally so they have no reason.
