Running away effectively?

It seems that lately, running away to regen has become nearly impossible. I don't know if I'm not turning around early enough, or am just not running fast enough, but it feels like the other person usually either catches up to me with their sword if I run in an uneven pattern, or lands every single bowshot if I try running straight. Most often it's due to this huge reach that people end up getting like in this video.


I know I kinda screwed up the running a little at the end by looking back (still working on f5ing), but is there any way to prevent that huge combo at the beginning? I turned around after the 2nd hit, went flying forward, and still got hit afterwards.

You didn't have really much space. I think you should have run to a place where was more space, so you could regen easier.
*Note: On Holiday Resort it isn't really easy to run away, there's a lot of water and trees which can be very annoying.
**Unless you have a boat :p

A lot of people don't realize that learning to be an effective runner is almost the same as learning to be good with fns, rod, etc. It requires skill and practice, and you need to know the map you're playing. Instead of running left along side the river, where the terrain wasn't flat and there was a lot of blocks to trip you off, you could've kept following the road, set him on fire, took a right and gone through the trees, and get back on the road again going back towards the beach. Also, when running, try not to zigzag and mostly try to stay as straight as possible unless you know your chaser is far away and trying to snipe you, it will only slow you down. Hope I helped :)

I think you should have stayed on road, flint and steeled, then kept running. Once fnsed, if you had bow and arrows, shoot him. Then go back in once regened.

I have that same problem. It's probably why I'm decent at Pvp but suck at mcsg.

I posted something similar to this earlier this week. People have a longer reach because the devs tweaked the NCP settings to fix sprint lag-backs. It's not your fault; it's the server's. #BlameDevin xP

Get underneath a tree and rapidly dap space bar, it speeds you up, also remember to stay on flat ground and if your doing the tree thing, practise weaving, also, try using a bow to knock them back. Just quickly turn round and shot them once, but if you miss, DONT KEEP TRYING. Hope this helps

Always run ban at them, it confuses them. In all seriousness, when you run away make sure to run in patterns only if they are trying to bow you, try to juke them (try to turn the other way without getting hit, going behind objects helps), and always, always, always double tap your space bar while running underneath 2 block high surfaces.
