Hey MCSG,
I wanted to quickly discuss something about the forums, I'm not exactly sure on the most appropriate place to post this seeing as its not really a feature suggestion and isn't specific to a game type.

I've been browsing the forums a lot more than normal in the past 48 hours, and have seen the moderators doing an great job at professionally managing them. They've been quick to reply and help out and manage the forums, and it is really showing at the moment. they clearly take pride in what's going on here.

However the one thing that for me, that I would personally appreciate would be for threads to stay unlocked for at least 24 hours after the last reply has been posted.

I've seen a couple posts where the "Question has been answered" and so there is no longer a need for them to be open, But at the same time, there are some posts where even though the question is answered, I'd still like to input and discuss on what has been answered, or the topic with the people who have been contributing.

I do enjoy discussing MC Gamer on the forums, but I sometimes feel that the conversations are cut short.

As a resolution to this, I was thinking it might be useful to not lock threads until they haven't had a response for over 24 hours.

The 24 hour time limit allows people to continue discussing a subject even when the question is answered, without needing to make an entirely separate post.

I've thought about down sides to this, and from what I can tell this is more of a benefit than anything else.

If there's something I haven't thought of, or you have an opinion on the matter please share :D

Not really sure. The way I see it, when people make a thread about a question they have, they aren't intending to create some sort of discussion, they just want a quick and simple answer. Once answered, it has fulfilled its purpose. It would also be a bit annoying for staff seeing as they have to go on in 24 hours and lock a bunch of threads. I completely respect your viewpoint, though. :p

That's true, but seeing as the threads move in order of last posted to, they would just need to go back one or 2 pages in order to find all the 24 hour old posts, and they can see any that are ready for closing all at once:)
thanks for the reply :D

This idea is ok, but there are always threads that don't need responses, and the moderators might forget in 24 hours. You should just make another thread that is meant to discuss the topic.

It would be a ton of work for the moderators, who are already very busy. I think the system we have now works just fine. If you want to further discuss the topic, create a thread on the topic in "Discussion" and then we will not close it.

Or, perhaps a script could be written for the option to have the thread tagged for being locked within 24 hours. In other words, have it set to do it automatically, so that the Moderators don't have to do it manually.
