No, not really. There are just so many items and wron himself asked for it to not be readded.

It's a good map, and I hope that the sword is taken out, and not the entire map!

The fix is literally this easy:
1. Get the map and worldedit
2. Select the whole map
3. //replace furnace [any other block]
4. //undo
5. All items in furnaces are gone! Map is fixed!

I personally don't know why it is such a big deal of effort to remove the items, but I'm sure there is a reason, otherwise they would've surely fixed the problem a long time ago. Besides the owner himself requested that the map would be removed, so there's no point in still trying to remove them right now.

As far as your question goes, it's not necessarily a bannable offence, it's more likely a kickable offence, though repeated offences might lead to a bigger sanction.
