Why is there no friend rank on the forums?

Because basically, the way that XenForo sets our ranks isn't the greatest, and it would require a loooot more work than it would seem. Basically we could/might do it in the future, but it's really not a priority right now.

I think it would be pretty cool, but might not happen for a while.

It would be cool to have, but pretty useless. Forum rank means nothing. I am a top poster and a Diamond donor and it says I'm member. Doesn't matter to me.

The contest judge is a title and isn't as complicated as making an entire new forum rank. That's just adding on to what Le0 said.
