Bounty would become even more useless than it already is. There's actually skill in having to maintain points, and you need to be able to balance gaining and losing them.

That's what wins are for - they never go down, as long as you win, they keep going up.

Trust me, if points didn't go down...it would be a disaster. Points would mean nothing anymore. You could just have someone with as many points as me keep letting you win and you'd boost your points to infinity so quickly. They'd show even less than wins would...
