Mojang released their first statement about this "new" EULA. Essentially, its over.

Thanks! This wont work on a large-scale. I can see this for popular (I mean full constantly) servers, you pay to join. Won't work for MCGamer, nor other large scale communities.

Well, this one is easy enough to bypass. Create an ingame currency that is able to be obtained ingame and with that currency you can obtain Donor. Right? Nope,

That just takes that loophole away...

MCGamer doesnt do this anyway, but possibly.

This doesnt apply to MCGamer, but it may apply to Tekkit. I'd assume kits would be counted as "items" as they can count as items.

Yep, we can do that easily.

The ONLY loophole I can think of, the new EULA is only effective with 1.8. If we stay in 1.7 we are fine (I think?)

Discuss?

the EULA in 1.7 lets you earn no money at all, basically any server at this points who accept donations is illegal.

It's really not that difficult to sort out... Lets just take a look at the premium benefits and how to solve them.
  • Join full servers: Permitted, confirmed by Dinnerbone on Twitter.
  • Additional votes: I'm unsure on that.
  • Points boost: I'm sure that's okay.
  • Points scramble: Costs a certain amount of points to use (5?).
  • /fly in the hub: Make it unlockable with points.
  • Chat color codes: Make it unlockable with points.
  • Wardrobes: Make it unlockable with points.
  • Pets: Make it unlockable with points.
That's all, unless there's other benefits that aren't listed in the shop.

Sponsoring
Sponsoring changes gameplay. Whether it be an enderpearl to five arrows, a bowl of soup to an iron ingot, or a cake to jump over a fence.
You can only sponsor using points/bounty. You gain points/bounty not only from in-game kills, but also from DONOR RANKS. Either remove sponsoring, or remove the bounty addition that you get from having a donor rank.

What's Team Elite going to do? The whole reason as to why we pay for the build team is so that Dave can help run the dedicated server we build everything on :( o gawd

Would that be an example of a pay-to-play server? For example, you can only get on if you're a build team member or donated?
Also, you can still donate to the server, but you just can't get anything in-game in return, like items.

Unlockable with points? Sorry. I have to disagree. Cosmetics are allowed to be monetized therefore they shouldn't be harder I accquire. Voting boosts honestly I would put under the "kicking to make room in full servers" category. It's just not that influential to the game. Were all going to play a map one way or another. Flying is for pure enjoyment. If I actually had to use my bounty to fly I'd be kind of mad. I understand that points have little value, but for me I find t better to keep a high amount in case I must sponsor a lot, or bounty, or use to show off ingame. It feels good when you walk into a server and see your name accompanied by a 5-digit number that represents your points.
