From the standpoint of someone who's seen this idea go places and then at the same time not, I'd love to see it happen. I mean, it does seem far fetched, really far fetched, but there isn't necessarily anything blaringly wrong with the idea that I can see, besides our own selves stopping us from making it happen c:

Minecraft could very easily branch out into a number of different 'eSports' with all the gamemodes it has, MCSG having the greatest potential of all, but until someone puts the time into making a flawless anticheat there is no credibility or peace of mind for players who do well, because at the moment literally anyone can cheat, record while cheating, be screenshared, whatever...and not be found out.
Once (if) someone figures out a system that surpasses even G------CHEAT (blocked on mcsg for some reason lmao), minecraft can branch out and start being recognised as more than a stupid ass block game
