Hey guys Kezzer here and most people here won't remember me but I want to make a last attempt at helping fix this server to be as great as it once was. The main issue MCGamer faces is the lack of new content and the repetitiveness of the current game play.

Let me start off with the issues MCGamer currently faces. The game basis was fresh back when it was newly released and was probably the most sought after game mode for quite some time across pretty much all servers which was why MCSG (now MCGamer) which purely focused on this flourished. Time has passed and The Hunger Games is a done series with both the books and films. This game mode will never truly kick off again unless you change up the game mode and make it a better experience than any other server can offer.

The main basis behind the MCSG game mode is that it is the Hunger Games in Minecraft. Part of the issue the game mode faces is the lack of real competition other than the occasional good player. Lets make an example.

You are a very good player who is one of the best so about as close to a 10/10 as you get.
The majority of players will have some knowledge of the game mode, maps and have experience in PvP. Depending on their levels on the mentioned attributes they will probably vary between 4-7 on the scale.
You will get some players who are complete newbies to the game mode or haven't played a specific map before or are completely awful at PvP. These will be the 1-3 on the scale.
Then we have the more experienced players who are experienced and will vary from 8-10.

The issue is that currently you get a mix of player abilities in the same game and with how the game play is now orientated it's purely PvP instead of PvPvE. This means that the completely new players couldn't rely on stronger players starving or being ambushed by mobs and they now need to rely on beating them in PvP. This means that people either have to team or stand no chance. On the other side of the spectrum we have the top Players who aren't being challenged enough.

With the above taken into account how could MCGamer make this work within their community?
Ranked matches.
You sign up and it matches you with people similar to your level of skill in the matchmaking system. It's a simple idea but it wouldn't just make games more fierce it would also allow less experienced players a chance to learn against people who are on a similar level thus allowing them to enjoy the game more.

If you have anything you would like to see changed comment below to let the staff team know what is and isn't wanted.

TLDR; Read it you pleb

Well said, we need to bring back other events as well for the pvp aspects. Bring the whole MCSG theme back.

While I think this is an extremely well thought out and great idea, isn't being 'the better player' the whole point of SG?

"Employ strategy and skill to stay alive." -
as quoted from its description

But, if this were to be implemented, how would the game define one's skill level?

Yes don't get me wrong there will always be a better player in one aspect or another but to bring back true competition other than purely killing noobs and then getting another win to add to your total. The current leaderboard does show who are great players but it mostly shows who plays the most or has played the most. Ranked gameplay would not only make games more interesting and competitive but it would also create an incentive to keep playing as you see progression other than your number of wins rising.

Also skill level would be set to a default amount for everyone at the start e.g. 100 and this would rise or fall depending on your performance. 1 point for a kill, -3 for a loss and 10 points for a win could be used. It could also heavily focus on pure survival in which case points would only be added for winning and taken for losing.
