A few of my friends have been banned and all they say for the reaosn of the ban is : Rule violations. Like WTF! I mean they read the rules but they should atleast tell them why . And better staff in general, they always abuse.

If your friends would like to know what they were banned for, get them to make a ban dispute asking for the evidence.

Also, please do not insult staff. They do a great job on these servers.

If a staff member is abusing someone, report it to a rank higher than theirs. Also, if a person is forum banned, then they are allowed to email an admin and ask why, IIRC. It maybe that your friends were arguing or flaming. Or perhaps they were advertising other servers.

I disagree. I'm not mentioning names, but some staff do their job correctly and others don't.

Anyway, if your friend can't post a ban dispute as he is banned on the forums, you can post one for him. However, staff can't punish without a reason and without proof. If there is no proof the ban will be removed.

Also, if you think a member is abusing their powers on this community make it know to higher staff. I suggest emailing Dave: [email protected] . Email with proof.

That ban reason is insufficient. Whoever banned with such a lacking description of the offense is not doing their job properly; any reason that resulted in a punishment would be a rule violation. Please PM me the names of your friends, and I'll see to whomever banned them (your friends are unlikely to be unbanned if the reason and evidence are legitimate, however).

But onto the second part, and "better staff in general, they always [commit] abuse," it's not that simple. Humans do not come with quantitative read-outs on their personality and character, and as such we cannot just get "better staff" the same way you'd get a better videocard. Humans can be unpredictable and prone to their own faults, but the Sr. Staff does our best to weed out the unfit; sometimes people change from their initial hiring to the current time. But to paint with broad strokes that the entire staff "always abuse" is doing a disservice to the people who act honorably. If you know of a mod who is abusive, please report it to Sr. Staff or above.

Thank you, Lively. All of this information is correct.

As stated above, if you have any information about moderators who are not doing their job as is expected of them, please contact a member of the Sr. Staff or above. I am willing to hear your concerns regarding moderator abuse if you'd like to email me your case.

However, please don't automatically jump to Dave, as he is an Admin who has a number of other responsibilities on his place. Please go to a member of the Sr. Staff first, since they are the staff most directly responsible for managing the moderators. If no response is given by the Sr. Staff, then you may contact the Admins with an email to all of us.

But, as in real life, evidence is of the utmost when making any accusations. Please be sure to collect as much evidence as you can of any offense you witness.

I've been informed of the friend in question, and I have found the issue in question. This did not have to do with bad mods, but the somewhat-obscure Warning Points system on the forums.

There are two ways punishments are given to people on the forums: directly by a moderator or through the Warning Points system. Directly is how mods usually ban, where they go to the person and ban them outright. But the Warning Points system allows us to punish people gradually, issuing Warning Points for certain offenses that build up and expire over time. Because the Warning Points system can account for a number of offenses over a period of time, the ban reason administered for a Warning Points ban is simply stated as, "Rules Violation".

The friend in question had accumulated enough Warning Points to warrant a temporary ban, and as such received the ban reason of, "Rules Violation". Had he/she been banned directly by a mod, the moderator's ban reason would have been insufficient, but since they were banned via the Warnings Points system, the ban is considered legitimate. I've looked at the warnings as well, and consider them legitimate, thus the ban itself is legitimate.

Suggestion Addressed; Thread Locked.
