Though I can completely understand why donors would want this, I'm still a little "iffy" on the whole issue. The current concern with Moderators and VIPs having this function is that it'll be abused by people switching back and forth between ranks constantly.

if donors felt they were being targeted then maybe a /hide command could be implemented which sets them to a normal member as opposed to the /d
This is an interesting take and much more realistic. However, I can still see people abusing this. Developers want to minimize the effect that a member can have on a server's performance. We don't want to give players a medium to lag the server and by effect ruin the experience for other people. I can see people arguing, "Well, there's a /ghostfix feature that any player can use, so technically there IS a medium to lag the server already.", but I'm fairly confident in saying that ghostfixing is not very well known. In fact, you most likely learned about this feature from someone who played MCSG for much longer than you did.

Ghostfixing is more of a "client-side" fix in the fact that there isn't some big notification that says, "That user just ghostfixed." Changing your rank is a visible change - it alters the color of your in-game name. From the standpoint of someone who can already use disguise, if I disguise in-game there's a lot of people that immediately ask, "Hey, how'd you do that?!" because they're able to see the color of my name change. People are much more likely to learn about this command just by its very nature, so I can already sense an alarming potential for this feature to be abused.

People could also argue that the server could detect if they've already hidden and just allow them to change once, but in reality we want to reduce the amount of information stored and the amount of checks that our servers need to perform. In an environment where over 30,000 players play over 10,000 games every single day (fun fact, these statistics are accurate), minimizing lag is on the top of the agenda.

In addition, there's going to be a number of changes that will occur with /disguise in the upcoming months; changes that will alter more than just the color of the user's name. Having the updated additions available to the general public would be a nightmare.

I'm not bashing this idea; I understand the desire to not be targetted in a game because of the color of your name - ask any Staff member, they'll be able to tell you all about the frustration. But from the standpoint of someone who deals lag complaints from members of our community on a daily basis, giving players the ability to cause lag isn't something that's going to contribute to network stability. We can make as many rules about not abusing this as we'd like, it just wouldn't be controllable. If you'd like proof of this, just look at the number of users who continue to hack even though it's against the rules.

For these reasons, I'm voting no. The potential for this feature to be abused and cause server lag is too high. I also apologize for the incredibly long post. I figured I'd at least explain why I said no. :p

Regardless, this is a hotly debated topic among Staff, and I'm glad this has been brought up. I'm interested in seeing other peoples' opinions; maybe there's a possibility I've overlooked. :]

I find the need for this feature to be highly exaggerated. If you are being targeted, it's most likely for your identity on the servers or because you're seen as a threat in game. The premium ranks are all rather common to see, so it shouldn't be out of the ordinary to run into any of them. I can't imagine very many people targeting a rank that they see every other game. My rank, which I usually play in, is one of the rarest on the network, as only 12 people have access to it. Despite this, I almost never find myself targeted. It certainly happens, but rarely to the extent that it ruins my time.

Normal players actually have this problem as well, though rarely for their rank. I can recall being targeted plenty of times when I had a green name. It just isn't a problem that's going to be solved by giving everyone /d. A nickname command may be better, though that solution has plenty of flaws as well.

Your best bet is probably just to ignore the targeting that happens every once in a while and move on.

As an ex member of staff i know that it has been discussed for a while and i know of the ups and downs. The ability t turn your donor "on or off" could be limited to 30 mins for example so that it wasnt spammed and the server didnt really have many checks to do. Or the server could have a 2 minute time period ever 30 mins where /hide was useable. This would prevent the server having to do loads of calculations constantly

I think it is a good idea but like they getter a better feature than joining a full server. Like a hat shop that you can buy with bounty and things like that would make it the best server.

People get targeted on their skill generally, not their name colour.

The thing is, for players who have a somewhat known name on the servers, having a blue name makes you way easier to notice when you join servers

I'm always targeted and I suck at this game so...
I think Friend+ should be able to /d because their ranks aren't rare and people think it's 'special' to kill a 'vip' or a 'friend' or a staff member.

I'm pretty sure VIP's have /d anyways to ranks below theirs. But I do agree, friends should have access to it too.

I don't think donors need /d. I'm rarely, if ever, targeted, and I'm a diamond donor and a well known forummer. I also have over 450 wins, so that could mean I have at least some skill. I don't think donors get targeted for any reason except a single member's hate toward getting kicked that one time. Some people do, but there are many fewer than there used to be and the issue has decreased to the point where having a /d command would be useless for donors. Especially since there are so many donors that most games will have multiple donors excluding the group of people you're playing with.

/d command for donors is kinda pointless and is just so you can add more colours to your name. I was actually targeted more when I had no donor its just now I get more team requests which is just the MCSG life.

If you do this you might as well add a command to make my win ratio 3% instead of 30%. Being a donor is one of the very many reasons to be targeted, and probably by itself one of the least things that would get you targeted. Not saying it doesn't happen, but name recognition, bounty, and wins get you targeted much more than donor status.
