who else thanks that chests should contain better stuff if their harder to get at? seriously lots of people win because they team up control the corn and take the stuff when it refills. shouldn't it be that to get good stuff, like iron armour and diamonds you have to work for it? any fool can get his buddy and control the centre and win. so shouldn't it be that jumping from platform to platform over a lake of lava gets you better stuff then sitting around the corn?

It does work, there are 2 types of chests, tier 1 (containing raw food, wood swords, axes, rotten meat n stuff) and tier 2 (containing cooked food, golden apples, iron/chain/gold armor, diamonds).
These tier 2 chests are sometimes behind a puzzle door, or a parkour route. The cornucopia chests are also tier 2.

I've seen only a cookie and a boat spawn in a corn chest, then an arrow and flint and steel in another corn chest. Whereas the windmill had 3 diamonds, a cooked steak and a golden apple. It's not always like that, it's just random and lucky.

On map 1, there are 3+ tier2 chests outside of corn.
On map 2, there are 12+ tier2 chests outside of corn.
On map 3, there are 7+ tier2 chests outside of corn.

Just look around.

Its not exactly like that, the thing is that since at corn there are a lot of chsts all together people always get more and good things, but theres really no diference with the other tier 2 chests.

this is fixed now, you can still win easily without being at corn all time. it's only a bit harder though

haha teams are useful but can be a pain too
