I think this question should be added to the moderator application templates.
How many languages can you speak? Please provide proof:

I think this well be very helpful in choosing moderators. For example if there is two people who applied for moderator and only one of them can be moderator, there apps are both well done and they have different skills but the Sr. Mods can not pick which one. If this question was added and one of them could speak English, French and Spanish but the other applicant can only speak English they will have a much easier time chosen the player.

Thanks for reading!

Maybe instead of, "How many languages can you speak?", the question should be, "What languages beside English are you capable of conversing in?"

I say this because getting a numerical value of, "1, 2, 5" isn't as helpful as, "I can speak English, Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Bacca". Furthermore, fluency or strong-understandings of languages are very important, since automatic translators or half-grasps of languages can be more confusing than helpful.

I agree but the only way you Provide proof would be to actually speak it because typing it could just be google Translate.

This is a good idea! While it obviously wouldn't be a requirement, it can help show a skill that may be useful.

I like this idea very much. However, I'm not entirely sure how much of a difference it would make. I'm not sure of the exact statistics, but I'm fairly sure the majority of our players speak English.

I do understand that there are those in the community who do not speak English. I speak a good deal of Spanish, and I enjoy helping out those people who can't find help elsewhere. Sadly, you always see those people who go around saying, "¿Algun español con Skype?" Or, "¿Algun equipo por Skype?"

Those people annoy me, but its nice to help people with legitimate language barriers.

You make a valid point, I also think who should have to wright a blurb for proof then during the interview have the applicant read it to you.

While I understand the use of this question, I feel that a person who is good moderator material would think to put the fact that they can speak multiple languages in "Why do you think you should be a mod?" question.

He or she can do that, but I personally think having this as it's own question would be more appropriate.

Personally, I included the languages that I speak in "In what ways would your presence benefit our staff team?" With this format, whether one includes it or not is up to the applicant's discretion. This lets the applicant make their application as detailed or as lackluster as they make it. A separate question might ruin an application in my opinion. A big red "no" stands out more than a missing detail that wasn't specifically asked for.

Which question needs proof? The question about your previous moderating experience?
