Hey MCSG,
As we all know, or as most of know, recently the new chest update has been released and I am here to give you my views, I guess...
So first of all I like what has been done in T1 chests, these have been nerfed for sticks and I also feel it is now harder to get a weapon in a T1, making games more interesting as people aren't fighting straight off the bat. I like how less useful items have been added again and amounts of arrows, feathers and alike items have been decreased, because after all it is a game of survival, not completely fighting, even though this is a big part.
As much as I like what has been done here to T1 chests, I am not however happy with aspects of what are now T2 and T3 chests.
First lets start with the positives, maps, compasses and clocks have been brought back and to be honest on a big map, these can be very useful, to tell the time, where you are/what is on the map and where spawn is. I don't actually know all the details with T2s but I believe some items such as diamonds and iron armour are much harder to find in T2 chests and can only be found in T3 chests which can be any number of T2s. Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't mind being able to find equipment harder, but randomizing chances of T3s occurring, could mean 1 person - like one of my friends when playing Solar Frost could stumble upon two T3s one after another. They need to be more spread out and equally spread - like such T2s, and possibly they should have set locations, to force people together - like the casino route on holiday resort - forces people together, again, the football field route on Valleyside forces people together, adding random T3s amongst these and nerfing T2s, could mean one player ends up way superior. Obviously this is an obstacle that would occur in the Survival Games but is it making people unnecessarily overpowered? But yes, I do like the idea of adding in more tiers to chests, but players needn't be so overpowered from one or two chests.
As I said before I do like the concept of adding more tiers and I think this has been done well, but again more tiers of chest would allow more balance so maybe this can be looked at.
The only other thing I would comment on is the TNT and Crafting Tables in Tier 3s. Originally I thought that the crafting tables were a great idea, and so it seems but crafting tables - like in the middle of all maps - are used to force players together and therefore force combat. So maybe, crafting tables are not such a good idea and may slow games down. The TNT makes MCSG feel to much like the Hive. I think a lot of the more experienced players don't like this as there is no skill involved (well there is obviously but not as much as using a rod/bow/flint and steel) in using the item, it also gives the game a very unrealistic feel and has disappointed me I guess. :/
That being said, in summary I like what has been done to the Tier 1 chests, I also feel adding more tiers is a good idea, but it needs to be tested more and I think the community definatley would be happy to help. However much I like these factors there are other factors such as the TNT that may need to be looked at. All in all though, a good update, maybe need to have some aspects looked at but thank-you MCSG and thankyou for letting me show my opinion
Thanks again
Charles
