This has been suggested a million times.
As of now, it's not the developer's priorities, but it's very well possible this might happen.

The reason people don't skip, is because there is always at least one map in a vote that people like. You'll often see the Breezes, Holiday Resort, SG4, Valleyside, Drybone Valley, and Solar Frost voted in rather quickly. Other maps that people tend to vote for are SG5, Avarcia (or however you spell it), Destiny's Shiver, TWSG1, Moonbase9, and Rugged Lands.

If I remember correctly, this close to half the maps used. With five choices every game, chances are you'll find at least one of these maps voted for. That's why people tend to not vote Skip anymore. I do like your idea about it going back to 8 skip votes though.

The skipvotes are likely going to be modified to dynamically be half of the players in the server at any time. For example, if there are 24 players in a server, there will be 12 required skipvotes; if 8 leave (leaving 16 players), there will be 8 required skipvotes.

its kinnda the same, i think its should be 1/3 not 1/2
