VIP being able to use /disguise?

As the simple title says, I am curious to know if there is a possibility of VIP ranked members being able to use a simple command such as /disguise to change their username temporarily to something else, for example Shoebomber. This is something all VIPs should be able to use in my opinion, mainly to prevent them from getting targeted at the cornucopia, and being spammed about in the chat.

I have made a short list of interesting details which could be implemented in a command like this.

• VIPs only being able to change their usernames to names that have already been decided by staff members and developers, to prevent people from disguising as already existing players such as CaptainSparkles and AntVenom.
• Disguising only avaible once per game.
• Disguising will make the VIP change its skin to the default Steve skin.
• Using the command, a text will automatically appear saying that the disguised player has left the game, and that another player has joined, which actually is the disguised player, with his new username.

Another thing I thought of was making disguised VIPs unable to chat, to prevent them from "trolling" others with their "new usernames".

I quite like this. If there's a set few usernames to disguise into, and they can't choose, and disable chat once disguised, it prevents essentially all trolling, or trouble-making that could come of the situation

This was actually discussed quite a bit during my time as a member of staff, but after a lot of debate, the answer was no (or at least into the foreseeable future). The first reason for this was simply the fact that it isn't high priority. Preventing a few famous YouTubers (and members of the staff, as this feature was discussed for their use as well) from being targeted is not really all that significant in the face of fixing major game breaking issues, lags, bugs, etc. or working on other, more important projects. Though it is definitely an idea that is being played with, it likely will not be worked on until the developers have some more free space.

The second issue is that which endthebean has mentioned: abuse of the system and a relative invulnerability due to their alternate identity. Though your idea to prevent disguised players from talking in chat may help a little bit, it seems rather unpractical (especially if moderators had access to the command as well, which they would if it were to be worked on), and doesn't address the full issue. Though they may not be able to harass people in chat if your idea is carried through, they could still hack under their alternate identity, which, though unlikely, would cause for much more work on the part of the moderators, and possibly allow them to break the rules and get away with it.

To sum everything up: Though the idea is a good one, and I believe something along the lines of it should be implemented, it likely will not be due to its low priority and the ease with which it can be abused.

Well, the rank does change, that was in the original /disguise feature (before Devin broke it >.<), but, as you said, the other negatives presented make that a moot point.

The bounty system will be burnt and trashed if this feature is allowed. It is a definite no from me.
