So, maybe you have a decent computer and you still run 10-20 FPS? That's pretty laggy to me. But I have figured out some fixes for that, and I will start off in the general fixes then I will move on to more complicated things, then certain maps, etc.

General lag fixing...
The ways to fix most lag in general is to tweak the following settings-
Render distance set to short/tiny, I recommend tiny for bad computers.
Graphics set to Fast. This means leaves are less laggy, clouds aren't 3D, water isn't super detailed, etc.
AdvanceOpenGL set to fast. Not fancy, fast.
Smooth lightning minimal or off.
Turn sound to minimal or OFF.

More complicated lag fixing...
First things first- Download optifine here- optifine.net/downloads.php
If you need a tutorial, just look it up on Youtube.
Now just let Optifine tell you the more complicated things because it's hard to explain in words.

Fixes for certain maps-
DEMON'S BREEZE-
This map appears to be causing some lag here for players. I will give an explanation. Turn the sound off.
When Minecraft tries to play all the lava sound at once, it makes it lag because the computer has to do so
many things at once. But turning off sound should improve your FPS. A high amount of graphics like lava
may also be a lag cause.

SURVIVAL GAMES 5-
Be sure you have low render distance. There is a TON of detail put into that map and rendering it all at once
sort of makes the computer load a bunch of stuff at once that it may not be able to handle well.

I will put other map fixes for maps you think are laggy and want an explanation for. Just comment!

OTHER TIPS
Some of my tips are: Don't have any other programs open (unless necessary things like Skype, TS, MCSG Website)

Minimize the size of your screen, you don't have to have full screen all the time, or a browser that covers your whole screen. When minimized it increases FPS by at least 20-30.

Open task manager and click on the tab 'Applications' it should then bring up the list of things that are open, right click minecraft and then click 'go to process' it should then highlight 'javaw.exe' or 'java.exe' (depending if you use magic launcher or not) now, right click that then click 'Set Priority' to 'High' it then should increase your FPS by at least 10-20.

Installing low resolution texture packs can also result in higher FPS because of the fact it doesn't have to load highly detailed blocks which result in FPS decreasing. Using 8x8 texture packs suck as oCd by Disco__ will increase FPS by at least 20-30 frames.

Uhh, I have my AdvancedOpenGL turned off because I seem to get more FPS with it off.

Just thought you might want to add these into your post. You don't have to if you don't want to though.

Hello there!

These tips I feel would greatly help some players out who are having some issues with FPS.

These things are what I use to increase my FPS when I seem to be laggy, I suggest these tips to everyone! :D

I do agree with certain maps being laggy, but i'm not sure MCGamer can do much about it. Thats more of a Minecraft issue.
