I don't like the situation right now where you lose points all the time, doesn't matter if you're fighting or not. So i have 2 suggestion to end this:
1) The Re-Implementation of that timer-thingy (forgot what it's called) where, after five minutes, you don't lose points to that player anymore. You can just jump off cliffs and stop caring ;)
2) Do it similar to MineZ: When you type /suicide, you must stand still and wait 15 seconds. By moving/PvP, the suiciding gets cancalled. But if nothing goes wrong, you can just die in peace (lol) and don't lose points :D

Sometimes I don't like it, but it is fair.

2. 15 seconds? If you're being chased and have good stuff, there are traps and places on basically every map where you can hide for that amount of time.

Then 30 seconds or whatever, i'm just posting the general idea.

I like this idea especially when say you have to go for food during a game and don't want to lost points but at the same time if it was implemented I can see people abusing it if they are playing a map they don't like and want to leave the game.

This is a really cool idea, and would, in my opinion, solve both the problem of losing points when you are not killed but have to leave for some other reason (such as moderation, time pressure, etc.) while avoiding the previous problems we had with combat logging. The 15 second timer would make it next to impossible to combat log, for it would very likely that someone would hit them in that time (if they were being chased, when combat logging is an issue).

All around great idea, I support it fully!

Yes, for the timer thingie. It's done amazingly on MineZ.

With that you could also make it so logging out doesn't make the tribute pass, but instead allow them to relog back in, just in-case their game crashes. It would have that 15 second NPC timer, and the command to safely log out. But logging out for more than 60 seconds would pass the tribute.

Although if you hide for 15 seconds you will likely be able to hide for longer than that. And 15 seconds is a long time in a fast-paced game.

Someone could do that command after running from a fight and just leave the game for a bit. I feel like a fast typer or someone that could use the up arrow to say the command could make this unfair.

No silly, once they type the command they have to stay still and hit/be hit for 15 seconds.
