I recently started playing survival games, and for the most part, I've been loving it.

However, if there was one annoying thing that I've noticed, it's the amount of spam in pre-game lobbies. Whether they're spamming (repeatedly) to be rude or simply telling people to vote for a specific map, it gets old.

With that being said, this has probably been suggested before, but a simple anti-spam plugin would be nice. Whether it just checks if the same message has been entered multiple times in a row, or if it checks it based on the last time they said something. Regardless of how it's implemented, I really do think that this is something that is needed.

There actually is a spam-filter-kick-thingy, but it's broken or something atm... :(

They used to have something like this. I remember the time I got kicked with full iron armor because I was counting down "3... 2... 1..." in DM.

The previous one was a little too sensitive, often kicking for no good reason... I'm not sure if they have one right now, but just take pictures and put them in report abuse.

I don't think we need something like that. I think the people who are doing the spamming need to be seen doing it, reported, and punished. What's going to teach them a lesson, a kick from an automated plugin, or a kick or ban from a mod who sees them or proof of them breaking the rules?

Spamming is something that is very easy to detect and doesn't require an actual human to be there to comprehend what the user is actually doing. It's rather clear if a user spams the same message repeatedly in a short period of time. I don't see why a moderator is needed when a plugin could just as easily take care of it, and much more efficiently (as a moderator can't be there 100% of the time, and users more often than not will not bother to report a user for spamming). I could understand if the user was doing something to bypass the spam filter, but in general that wont be the case.

As for a moderator kicking them versus an automated system, I don't think it makes a difference - the user gets the same message when they are kicked or banned. I'd also add that a plugin kicking and/or banning a player would be more accurate than an actual moderator in terms of proof, as a plugin would require specific requirements before it would be triggered.

Also, from the other posts above, obviously the spam filter would have to work correctly, especially if it were to kick and/or ban. For less serious spam, you could simply have it warn (in game) or report them for spamming. But for obvious spamming like saying "vote for 5" 20 times within 10 seconds is quite obvious, and a moderator shouldn't be required to deal with that user - I'm sure that you guys have bigger things to worry about.
