Point Loss / Gain

Good idea?

I've noticed a lot of people don't like this. I know there have been forum posts about it but I thought this idea deserves it's own post.

Once you get to a high score, like 500 - 1000, you lose 50 points if you die to someone with less points than you. This is really unfair, because I use a sort of "Haymitch" strategy and don't often kill people unless I make it to death match or decide to go hunting. This gives me less points for winning. I know I should just go for the kill, but it's not always so easy. Also if I die in the process, I lose those 50 points.

I think it should be reduced to about 20 points at maximum. This is better because you lose more often than winning normally, and at losing 50 points per game with a ratio of 5 losses/1 win (not real ratio, just example), I would lose 250 points and gain 100 or less. The idea is to win more, but there isn't always an admin/mod on to ban the hackers and things. I have also tried to tell an admin one time about a hacker, but he didn't bother doing anything.

I also think it's better to lose 5 points at minimum, because that makes it easier to get points and more fair for your kills. You can complain about having missed the game, but it's your fault for leaving MineCraft up while you were AFK.
I also know that new players need the points, but 5-20 is still a lot. It's pretty good too.

My Other Points Idea Added to this one:

Depending on how well you do, you get different amount of points:

For 24T servers:
Winning: All kill points + 10.
Deathmatch: All kill points + 3 - points lost for death.
Top 4: 3/4 of kill points - points lost for death.
Top 6: 1/2 of kill points - points lost for death.

For 48T servers:
Winning: All kill points + 20.
Deathmatch: All kill points + 7 - points lost for death.
Top 6: 3/4 of kill points - points lost for death.
Top 9: 1/2 of kil points - points lost for death.

I just lost 35 points for dying to a person with superior armour AND superior sword. That is unfair, because I normally lose about 9 points and 35 is far too much.

the last game i played i had no armor and a stone sword and i lost 50 points for being killed, not only to put into perspective that i had about a 200 point diff between us (me on lower end)

People with higher scores like me and squirrel have a unfair disadvantage, because of our high points we lose far to many points.

It's an unfair disadvantage :p but yeah, we lose 50 points when we die and 5 when we kill someone (most people). In the end, we lost like 30 points unless we leave before getting killed allowing us to keep our points.

The way I see it, the system does need some tweaking to make you not lose points at a maximum level so quickly. However, that does not mean that you won't lose the maximum amount of points when you have such a high score.

The way I see it is this: if you're within 50 points of a player, you gain/lose 3-5 points. 50-100 within, you gain/lose 5-10. So on and so forth. So if someone with a score of 600 is killed by someone with a score of 50 (meaning a 550 difference), you might lose about 30 points. But if your score was, say, 1000, you would lost that maximum of 50 points.

I think the system needs to work a bit more gradually, but it does need to give credit where credit is due. (Also: seriously, logging out before death is just cheap. Just saying, you aren't giving that player his/her due credit for killing you.)

The_arena_master has 4000points because he leaves every match when he is about to die which is very sad.

I have a different points idea which I made into a different post. We could mix both ideas together in a way that you lose like 35 points for being killed by someone much lower in points, you lose like 5 points for being killed by someone much higher in points. And someone within 100 of your score, you lose about 15-20.
