Correct version for servers?

Hello, I have tried every version since 1.7 to join.
The IP's i've tried to connect to are play.mcgamer.net and eu.mcgamer.net.
It says can't resolve hostname.
Yes, I have tried to restart minecraft and relog.
So, which is the corrent version and why can't I get in?

Hey there!

First of all, you need to make sure that you are using a Minecraft 1.8.x version. So starting from 1.8 until the last build should allow you to log on the servers.

Secondly, try using different IPs and see if any of them work.

us.mcgamer.net
ca.mcgamer.net
au.mcgamer.net

If that still does not work, you will most likely have to use the numerical IP to log in on a certain region. The way I find out what that IP is, is by pinging eu.mcgamer.net in my terminal. So you would just enter "ping eu.mcgamer.net", it will display your connection to the server and providing a numerical IP.

The one that it's currently giving me for EU is the following:
5.196.177.129
