I wish people would understand how much the MCSG community would benefit from this. MCSG has been boring and unbearable to play for so many people, and the overall reason is because people are losing interest and inspiration to play, people just don't feel the need to work towards anything anymore, as a result the competitive scene of mcsg has completely died and now people only play to have fun and screw around in massive teams.

A reset like this would hugely benefit MCSG and result in floods of players working towards an actual goal. The people who don't want to lose their stats need to understand that they are still going to keep them, just on a seperate leaderboard...

I suppose this paragraph is useless because the devs won't go a long with this when the community is half and half.
seeing that you are from au and don't understand how bad the hacker problem is in eu i think you have to experience it to realise how much it would ruin eu.

It would benefit to get more people on the server, Though alot of people that are playing now would quit cause of all of there hard work is gone.

Waw no! I really care about my stats, it's fun to see me get more wins. I spend a lot of time on these servers. Please don't take my stats away from me!

No you're wrong with this:

"The people who don't want to lose their stats need to understand that they are still going to keep them, just on a seperate leaderboard..."

Well okay, partly right. We don't want to lose our stats. But! I know there's going to be a legacy leaderboard, do I want that? No. I'd prefer to continue with my current stats. I don't care if my 'old stats' would be saved or not. I think this is a terrible move.

I understand your point of view. But I said we can go back and forth talking about whether this is or is not a good idea but our opinions are set. We will just vote and see what happens.

Again I understand your higher ranked players opinions and from your post you can understand the newer players opinions. I can just say that if these new leaderboards do come into play then I am sure the staff team will be on watch to ensure that rule breakers (boosters, hackers, etc.) are not at the top. I can tell you I will be.

I think that your idea to give the top 25 recognition is very good and definitely something that should be done or thought about. My suggestion for it would be to put a 'Legacy Top 25' in the hubs just like we have the top 25 in AU. This will have the legacy leaderboards top 25 players heads and names in the hub.
We can't leave it to the poll, CreeperFarts decided to abuse his power, and use his subs to bias the poll. Those numbers are forged.

Unless this magical "Get rid of hackers" plugin chad has up his sleeve comes to fruition, hackers will be a never ending problem. I'm not saying moderators aren't doing their job, heavy moderation is what keeps US much cleaner then EU; but it is impossible to join a game without a hacker these days. I've reported countless hackers, and it's just become a pain to report them all. My upload speed maxes at .2 Mbps, so it's near impossible for me to take charge in this, I'm not even a moderator. I saw a hacker one week, decided it wasn't my job to take care of it, and moved on. Ran into the same guy a week later, using obvious hacks. How did nobody catch him in a weeks time? Once, I reported someone, got them banned, then after the week expired I was the person to record them again. Why? Why is it my job? I don't want to moderate, I want to play! When I miss a recording of someone, I used to be able to go on teamspeak and have a mod follow them, but even that's difficult now. Most of the time I poke a mod, I don't even get a response. I'm not even going to pretend this isn't true. Yes, obviously there are the mods that always respond, key ones being soggypickle and baccaboy, but it gets so frustrating when you're completely ignored. You can't just say the mods will take care of it, because it still isn't enough.

While I'm not a player anymore here's my reasoning as to why the stats should be reset. I started playing mcsg in April 2012, so I have a good amount of experience with this server. People are complaining about losing all their hard work, but the thing is they really aren't. The legacy leaderboards would save all the stats and give new players a chance to finally catch up to the veterans. I know people are proud of the stats they worked hard for but the thing is they really wouldn't lose a thing. It gives everyone a fresh start and it allows new talent to emerge on the leaderboard. I know graveyard worked hard for his 4000+ wins but a lot of us don't have the time to play nearly that much. From the time mcsg was officaly released to the time I stopped playing (a year and a half) I only racked up 2200 games. I played pretty frequently on top of it. There's people who have more wins than I have games played, try and let that sink in.

My final point on this is that I believe that a leaderboard reset coukd be incredibly fun. I remember when mcsg came out of beta the race for 100 wins was one of the most fun things to watch. While I only got to around 15 wins before blamph finally won the race to be first to 100 it was still great to watch. Now I realize the game has drastically changed and 100 wins is nothing but maybe the race for 1000 wins could be entertaining to watch as well.

Lastly I'd like to end by saying that that the stats are nothing but a number and at the end of the day thats all it stays, a number, so enjoy the servers and have fun. If you really enjoyed the game losing a few numbers wouldn't mean much, would it? :)

I've played a total of 5 weeks and 11 hours on this server. I played a lot of games a day and I did my best to reach the highest rank I could possibly get, (without throwing away my life ofcourse). I deserve my rank on the actual LB, not some nostalgic LB, the real one. The struggles for me were just as hard as they are for me now. If I were to start grinding again I would probably get the same w/l for example. What I'm saying is, new LB will not show who has the most skill more than the old one.
  • The current leaderboards are very stacked against new players. Players who have just recently started playing don't have a chance at becoming one of the top 100 players simply because they're competing with players with a year's worth of experience or more.
If you were to reset the stats so that new players will get more of a "fair" chance to rank up, it will not make it more fair for them. It will just make it more easy. In games you will always be competing against people who have done more, and are just better and more experienced at the game. Resetting the LB will basically mean that MCGamer counts the veterans' wins as invalid, which they aren't. In no way is a win from a year ago worth less than one from today.
  • A fresh restart would be fair and fun for everyone. It's fun to start a new game, and a global reset would be like starting a new game for everyone.
No, a lot of people will not enjoy their fairly gained wins being removed. It will not be like starting a new game, starting a new game would be like actually making a new game, not resetting people's stats.
  • New competition and interest rejuvenation. By having a global reset, everyone's stats start at zero. Not only will this give everyone a chance to be an awesome rank on the leaderboards, but that encourages renewed competition between players as everyone races to be the new top player. This will definitely encourage interest in newer players
Yes, it will give some a boost of excitement, it will even be exciting to see who can no-life the most. Because that's what these LB are about remember, getting as many wins as possible. I will not deny that the competition will be great and often fun. But don't forget what people do in this game to win. They cheat, they use hacks, macros or glitches to get their wins. Losing will lead to frustration, which will then ofcourse lead to flaming etc. This community is competitive enough, we don't need more imo.
  • Legacy Leaderboards is awesome! Anyone who fears that the stats they worked so hard on will be forgotten have nothing to fear. Their effort won't be a waste as their stats are memorialized, and they'll be getting a new leaderboards to work towards again. It's the best of both worlds.
I'm not scared of it being forgotten, I'm scared of losing my rank. Also do you really think that after playing 5 weeks and 12 hours, I still have the motivation to no-life again? xD It's not the best of both worlds. You and others just like the idea.

  • New statistics! I love numbers! And we can't have those new numbers if we don't do the reset.
So do I! Leave mine alone :C

When the Leaderboards would be reset, then i would quit this game because i play this game like over 1 and a half years now. And all the hard work would be for nothing? No thanks.

Yes, it's tough for mods to handle all the hackers and hopefully more mods, work, help from the community (reports), upgrades in Anti-Cheat and anything else planned will reduce or stop this from being a problem or at least as big of a problem.

I voted Yes.
Imagine you are a new player and you see the leaderboard with players who have like 3000 Wins. It would be impossible for the new players to have a chance to be ranked high. AND MCGamer merged with Antvenom's server so Antvenom's viewers will come to MCGamer. I think it would be more fair for them if the leaderboards were reset :)

It's not fair that people haven't put in as much time as the top players, but it is fair to completely remove their effort? Makes sense.
