Awful Minecraft Connection?

I don't have great internet to begin with (27ms ping, 5mbps down, .5mbps up) but Google Chrome and all other internet-related things seem to run pretty smoothly. I even get great connection to other video games. When I do a speedtest, everything is normal.

However, I seem to get 150ms+ to every server I try to connect to. I almost always constantly 4 bar, and it sometimes drops down to a 3 or 2 bar. Rarely a 1 bar, and rarely a 5 bar. It used to constantly 5 bar and rarely 4 bar, but recently, it's been doing horrible.

My internet works great for everything outside of Minecraft. I have AT&T DSL (Ew). Anyone know what's going on? .-.

This may not be the case here but when I was experiencing these problems with connection my router was faulty. I did end up purchasing new Internet after that. I'd say if you don't think you're getting the service you are paying for you could always contact your ISP.

Someone told me that doing /ping may not be accurate. They said that to get your true ping you have to divide that in half. I noticed the inaccuracy when I did /ping and was at 400, but wasn't experiencing any lag whatsoever.

It's not just on MCSG. I ping it through CMD and it's perfectly fine... however, gameplay is unbearable on servers I normally get 45ms on.

My connection to other servers are usually, for the most part, better. I don't get as much spikes of lag as I do on MCSG.

Remember, you don't have the best upload speed. This could cause the lack of good connection. Upload speed is just as important when it comes to gaming, and speed.

Also you might want to try to change your region.

1: Are you wired or wireless?
2: What region are you from?
3: What region are you playing on?
4: What is your ping to the region you are playing on? You can find out your real ping by look at your added minecraft servers. Put you mouse over the connection bars to the right. That is your ping. If you tell me all this, I can determine your problem

Ugh, thanks for exposing me for the fail I am. But, for me, it IS just on MCGamer.
