Hey there!

I'm working on a map and i've seen some previously accepted maps that have "crates" in them. It looks like a piston with 6 faces on it. I have no idea how I manage to get this block into my hotbar to place.

I've used the command "/setblock ~0 ~0 ~0 33 6" which makes it appear where i'm standing but I would like to place it...

We don't use crates here on MCGamer, we just use chests.

As far as I know, it's impossible to obtain them into your inventory as they're screwed up block data. You can give them to yourself using /give [name] 33:6 1 but as soon as it is placed, it'll turn to a normal piston.

The only way of getting them placed is using /setblock as you have been or using a plugin such as worldedit.

Just place out random blocks that you don't have anywhere else, such as orange wool or something in the place where you would like to have the crate. Then, you select the region that those blocks are in, and replace them with the fully covered piston (crate) block.

Here is an example of how to do it with WorldEdit:
I place out 3 orange wool blocks, and select the region in which they are placed, either using the WorldEdit wand (//wand), or using //pos1 and //pos2. Then do the command which replaces the correct block type to the correct new block type. If the case is that you use orange wool blocks, you just do //replace wool:eek:range piston:6 (piston:6=the crate looking block).

You can also just use a website to find the IDs of other blocks if you want to do similar things like this, just with different blocks.
