Fraps Issues

Hey guys, I understand this may not be MCSG related but it involves trying to record MCSG videos I guess. The problem I'm having is that my FPS is not staying constant when I'm recording, one moment its at 50 and then before you know it, it plummets to 1fps and crashes the game. Do you guys have any advice on how you can optimise your record settings and/or if there any alternatives for recording? It's never been like this. Anyway I appreciate you reading this, and hopefully I can get this sorted out soon .

Try keeping the FRAPS recording FPS at 30 - works great + smooth quality!

The reason why it crashes on you is because you are setting the FPS too high.

Firstly, you want to close tasks that are using a lot of PC power. Fraps takes quite a bit to record as it records in high quality.
+ ninja'd. Set it to 30. If it is trying hard to reach higher FPS it will tire itself out.

If you are having random FPS drops it means your harddrive writing speed is slower then the amount of information you are sending with recording ( which is alot ) which clochs up the connection, therefore causing random frame drops.

Edit : Lower quality / lower the amount of FPS you record in will fix the problem. Or getting a harddrive with a better writing speed.

Also, your hard drive might be full. That's what happened to me.
You could try recording with lower quality.

Try changing where you save videos, I got the same exact thing and when I changed where I saved them it fixed everything

I've had this problem. It's your hard drive; it's not fast enough to handle fraps. Instead, try OBS. It's a lot better than Fraps ever will. I'll edit in an MCSG guide to recording with OBS that a forumer wrote.

I used OBS before fraps and the video quality can be a bit poor, I feel Fraps is a bit better option but OBS definitely runs smoother on the FPS.
