I have noticed that quite a few people want to team with other MCSG players. And you know, there are those players who betray and backstab. Now my suggestion is not to fix this solution, but I would like it to build a since of trust with the players around me.
This is what I was thinking.

This can only happen during lobby, when most people form teams.
You would type in a command like this as an example:

/team <Player Name>

Once that command has been typed in, a request will be sent to the player you want to team with:
<Player Name> would like to form a team! You can choose to accept or deny.

To accept, type: /accept
To deny, type: /deny

I think a simple command like this would be pretty cool for the community. What do you think?

What would this actually entail? If you couldn't hurt the person you teamed with, this would be a bad idea, as you can't form fake teams or have the disadvantage of accidentally hitting your teammates. I think the current team system is perfectly fine, to be honest.

Oh right I forgot to add: He does make a good point, but I do think that if you form a team, you can't hurt them.

I'm sorry to say this, but what if you have to kill a team mate that got stuck in a hole and couldn't get out. I think the /team idea is good, but having it so you can't hit/kill your team mates isn't a good idea.

Besides, backstabing is fun and sometimes essenctial.

I don't think you understamd the games to much. The point is that there are no rules, Do what you can to win, that means teaming then stabbing them in the back when they're no longer of use. This would ruin a key aspect of the game - Parinoia (Or however it's spelled) Let me run a scenerio by you.

Player X and player Z are teamed. Player Z gets a sword, and Player X gets only an axe. Player Z stairs down Player X, making X feel scared for his life. If Z changes his mind, X will be easily killed. X takes action on these thoughts, killing his teamate while his back is turned.

With this, the games would be bland and a key aspect would be ruined.

True, but we could still keep the /team command, but you can still take damage from your teammate.

Then /team - ing would be of no use....
Well.... you could have it so when you /team, your in a private team chat so that no one else could here your stratagy. And you could remember who your team mates are.

But other than that its pointless.

I didn't want to do this again, but this is another game factor (Hearing a team talking then running, e.t.c.) , we already have the /w command, which is just as good. In real life would you be able to talk to one person and that person without whispering specifically to him? No. Just saying. This all comes down to the realism of it, and comparing it to the movie and book.
