Ping question

I just wanted to ask what ping is the accurate one?
You can see your ping at favourite servers , on the right part of the screen and i have around 50-60 ms there but if i do /ping in game i usually get around 110-120.

IIRC, the /ping command gives a more accurate score because it is the server giving it to you, and not minecraft telling you what your ping should be.

What? I was using different internet, Minecraft said I was getting 70 ms to US MCSG(maintaining a 5 bar), but when I did /ping in game I had 154 ms. Some people told me to divide the ping ingame by 2 and you'll get your real ping.

The server tells you exactly what your actual ping is because it's coming straight from the server. When you look at your ping outside the server, through the multiplayer list, minecraft is giving you a ping based on what your internet connection is. If you do an internet speed test, the number for your ping is the number that the minecraft server uses. But, the actual servers are not hosted in the same database that you get your internet from. Therefore, the ping in game is more accurate.

So you're saying if I'm getting a 5 bar on mcsg with 70 ping and when I do /ping in game i actually have 140+ ping? xD Doesn't make sense... Also my some people I know have 40- ping and when they do /ping ingame they have 100+.

No, you're wrong. The command is incredibly inaccurate. The minecraft ping is now accurate and matches up with the cmd ping, for example in game /ping gives me 90 and CMD gives me 40. It does not take 0.9 seconds for anything to register, much quicker,
