This should help you manage all your avatars for whatever you chose to apply it to.

Currently there is a bug with the forums avatar uploader, I personally had struggled uploading an avatar. As mentioned by everyone, your best shot is to use Gravatar. We are looking into fixing the forum bug soon, though. But there is no ETA of the bug push. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
