Hello

I would like to put forward an idea that mods, admins and other staff can use to ban players. Banning IP address. Me and other mcsg players are sick and tired of hackers on mcsg. People are getting alt minecraft accounts and are still being able to hack or cheat on mcsg again and again. So my idea is to ban IPs instead of banning players. The hole idea is that hackers cannot join the servers with a alt account and start annoying the heck out of people by hacking.

Thanks

This is unfair for people with siblings, or who are playing on public Wi-Fi.

Yes, but the sibling shouldn't of started to hack in the first place. But I thinks it bans the computer ip not the WI-FI ip.

Let say there is a library with a computer room, all connected to the same ip. They ban the ip and the 10 players that play minecraft can't play anymore. Plus, banning the ip means that if they go to another computer at a different home they don't need an alt. account. Just saying, banning the ip isn't a great idea.

Firstly, most library's have a unreachable system and banning a ip means banning the computer up not the WI-FI Ip, but I could be wrong. Plus they shouldn't of hacked or cheated in the first place. Also you can ban the player as well

Banning the IP bans the internet. And trust me, just because they are your sibling does NOT mean you know what they do all the time. My twin can confirm this :p

Its not going to happen, siblings, roommates, housemates, public places. There is just too much confusion and complaining. Imagine if I were to hack and bam, my brothers cant play MCSG at all (I have two internets so it doesn't matter in my case :p)

Yes, banning an IP from a server would mean that anyone connected to that IP can not join that server.

I'm pretty sure that if people continuously use alts while banned they already get IP banned.

They don't do IP bans and Haven't done IP bans for nearly a year as issues that happened last time. It would stop other players with the IP to play, and also like my router which changes its IP every day or every time I turn it on and off which would bypass it and people out there would Use proxy's so , IP bans are pretty worthless. the system they do use though is if they believe a player is an alt account of a banned user they will IP match the 2 accounts which if both the same, results in a ban.

We used to do IP bans, but as Echo/Haydn said, we haven't done them in about a year, since they were done very rarely anyways (I think maybe 6-7 IP bans were active in the system when we disabled IP banning around July). There's really no point in doing IP bans anymore, as it's fairly easy to change your IP.
