Question regarding increased gamma

I was going through the MCSG rules, and saw that increasing your gamma through .minecraft is banned... I am curious as to why this is, as you can simply modify your computer settings to give the same results. Any help/response is very much appreciated. Thankyou for your time!

It gives you an u fair advantage above other players that do not know how to modify their minecraft files to increase gamma. As we'd like to keep the game as fair as possible it is not allowed to increase your gamma through modifying your minecraft files. Also there is a big difference between having your monitor having a higher bright settings and increasing your gamma, as increasing your gamma will basically remove all the shadows in minecraft itself, while having a higher brightness on your monitor will still show them.

Adding on... you are able to see objects (chests) that other players can't. For example when in cave it is completely dark for normal players and there maybe hidden chests. But players with increased gamma are able to see the chest(s) quite fine.
