If you can do this multiple times without someone being able to take your original name then there's no need for /d. Though I wonder how this would work with checking someone's stats.

Even though I hate my name, I love it in a way too. as mikag35 said, I've had this name 4 like, 2 years. It's my name. People know me by it. Even though it'd be pretty swag to be able to make your name something else, it'd be weird too :L

It won't affect anything. It will work similar to how Steam does. You will have your ID, then your screen name.
