I personally always say it at the end of the game whether I win or loose it's good sportsmanship. And if i kill someone who has better armor/weapon then me then i say GG.

*gets killed off of spawn
"GG SCRUB"
I set a personal grudge against the killer, and will make sure, that no matter what, I WILL KILL THEM.

gf = good fight
gg = good game

"gg" is meant to be said at the end of the game when you win or lose as a form of respect.
"gf" is said during the game or at the end of the game also as a form of respect.

If the person says "gg" after he/she kills you, then that person is obviously attempting to frustrate you and/or trying to have some fun. There are many young players on MCSG, so they're not really aware of the terms and they'll just follow the crowd.

Person A kills you and says: GG.
Person B: Good game? The game isn't even over yet? Estupido...
Person C kills Person A and says: GG 10 HEARTS.
Person B: LUL.

If you want to frustrate someone after killing him, just say "GG 10 HEARTS" instead. Saying just "gg" after killing him just doesn't cut it.

In the end, it's just a game. There's no rules to having fun. :D

*This comes from a guy who's played many games other than Minecraft. In those many other games, I've never saw anyone typing "gg" after killing someone when the game wasn't over yet*

I think it all really has to do with how you act during the game as well. If you're arogant during the game, and you say "gg", everyone's going to think you're being rude and showing off. If you act sportsmenlike and say "gg" no one really can be mad at you. But I agree, gg is turning into an insult, not just in MCSG, but everywhere. I'm disappointed it has happen, as I use it many times, never in a mean way either.

A lot of people assume way too much about a simple, polite gesture. It's nothing to get worked up over.

It's not just that though. I know practically know everyone throughout the MCSG community (AU at least) and the way they play and their personality. It is quite annoying and frustrating when someone purposefully targets you and either says 'GG' or 'eZ' or whatever. Yes, I may understand they're happy about killing a good player, but why? Did they experience the opportunity to fight this person fairly? No, it upsets this good player as most games they don't get to have good or reasonably fun fights. Don't get me wrong here, I don't mind when people say 'gg' in a good legitimate 1v1, because most of the time it is fair and there is nothing to get upset about. Can you see where I am coming from?
