Why is optifine capes so popular?

Hi I'm CheryOnTop12 and I play on mcsg servers and I relised so many skillful players have optifine capes. why is it so popular? I have an optifine cape myself and I like it but I still don't get how popular it is. Any reason why u think its so popular?

Another way to get a cape and donate to a good mod. Plus almost everyone uses optifine so ever can see the cape
