It doesn't. You don't need this view to be so pro xD

I play without it with no problems. :p (In fact, using a little fishing rod trick, I "out reach" my quake pro opponents frequently, and this trick hardly gives a reach advantage at all.)

FOV has no effect on reach: It feels like it at times, but it really doesn't. I obviously have no problems without it, whether I'm fighting quake pro users or not. (I'm all the way down with FOV, default setting.) What may make it seems as if they have less than you is a number of reasons: Possibly the opponent got caught in...well, it's hard to explain what they were caught in if you don't understand those mechanics...but the other reason might be that, while it may seem as if they are looking at you and attacking, they may be looking to the side a bit because the FOV tricks you a bit with that...or something...

...hard to explain, but FOV doesn't change your reach. :p

Edit: Anyway...back on topic.

Honestly, right now, there is no one I particularly "look up" to. There are plenty of people I recognize the skill of, some I'd consider better than myself, but I don't..."look up" to them really.

Back in the day, though, when I was a new user, I looked up to the big guys: SixZoSeven, Zeejayy, Egrodo, Blamph, etc. It was always a blast when I got to play in a game with anyone who I "looked up" to. Although obviously...I never really won these games often then. :p Now that some time has passed, it really is great to hear lots of people who I use to look up to realizing my skill.

... Honestly I started in a time when there weren't many people to look up to, I guess I'm just an old man. So I actually set it out for myself to teach myself how to PvP somewhat decently back in early May.

Though I guess I can list someone who I've always respected PvP wise. SixZoSeven was definitely my first rival when he was creeping up to me on the leaderboards when I was sitting at #1, I respect him.
all of this
