Best thing is just shoot them with bow and then just own them with sword. If they have better gear then you than use Flint And Steel.

You can use this method on the chests in corn, it helps if you're too weak to go to corn and can strike when they're on fire

No it isn't. Either side of the person with the most kills if I'm not mistaken, and that's random too.
