Hi there. Today I was hoping to discuss as a community about how do we stop violence in young men and their abusiveness to young women. Now I'm not stereotyping saying all men are pigs and drink too much and assault their female partners. Here are some really brutal facts:
1. 7 out of 10 women killed in Australia were victims of domestic violence
2. 1 woman is killed every week in Australia from domestic violence.
3. Children are present in 1 out of every 3 family violence cases reported to police.
4. Intimate partner violence in Australian women is in the top risk factor and illness disability aged 15-44
5. 64% of women who experienced physical assault and 81.1% of women who experienced sexual assault still did not report it to police.
6. Just under half a million Australian women have admitted to physical assault, sexual assault and sexual violence.
Just let that last fact sink in. There are roughly 11.4 million women in Australia. Roughly 1 in 20 females have been sexually assaulted, abused or physically abused in the last 12 months. If you were to take away the elderly and children under 8 ( not discriminating but its highly unlikely that an elderly woman or a child under 8will be sexually or physically assaulted 1 in 15 women have been sexually or physically assaulted in the last 12 months.
So Australia. What is going on here? How have we allowed such a terrible thing to happen to our women. How do we stop this as a community yes I know there is white ribbon which I am a massive supporter of but we need to stand up as one and stop domestic violence.
If you have any ideas or just an opinion on this please share. This is not an issue to be taken lightly
