That's one of the most unique ways at looking at it. Controversy in a matter like this does in most instances determines the popularity of a thread but after reading your post I pondered why. After much contemplation I believe controversy is not what determine the popularity of the thread but rather I believe popularity is determined due to the implications it has towards multiple people. What I mean by this is anyone can post a thread about controversy and it can be either simply answered with one brief response or locked for pointless flame or drama. This brought me to believing it's how much that controversy affects people that determines the potential growth of awareness to that topic. So let's take for instance the big discussions about having MCGamer V2. This attracted so many people because of the connotation and affect it had too the entire servers of MCGamer. As a result it was hot topic for it would shape the future of the server we all like to play on. In conclusion users should be wary of how they imply controversial matters and also be wary that not all controversial matters will get attention.

I like watching the "Bring back 1.7" threads. I just love all of these 9 year olds crying to bring back 1.7 because 1.8 is bad and they don't even read any related articles about this. Anyways, I could sit here and write a 5-paragraphed essay about this, but I'm just going to pass that.
Also, a great example is this:
No witch hunting, but I'm just saying, these people are just getting f***ing out of hand.

I actually like most forum discussions. It's easier to list what makes the forums boring. For one, threads that spam the forums or are there only for flame are discussions that make the forums boring. Also, threads that are only about 3 words are rather pointless and do nothing but flood the forums. Finally, I don't like threads that are obviously negative (whether sarcastic or not).

My favorite type of discussion is a well-written rather long one. I know that most people probably don't sit down and read long threads, but I do. And, to be honest, I read parts of it again. In my opinion, Mooclan's threads are pretty well-written and they're overall good reads.
Oath. I love reading the ones that people spend a long time reading. Although it may seem bad I love reading resignation letters as it lets the community into what happens for staff and what being staff is like.

Thank you all for the positive replies, I wasn't sure if the community agreed with me on this one.

Honestly, Creeper. I think that the most recent threads you have produced are always straight to the point. And I enjoy reading every single word of each of them, because they are practically the truth. Also, I have some plans coming at way, but still under my consideration. Creeper, I would honestly love to see more threads from you. :D
Thank you Miner! I'll be sure to post more threads more often :)

You...want controversy?

BRB THINKING OF THREAD TOPICS
I am both excited and concerned, but go for it! We need more Moo threads.
