What are your superstitions?

Hah, the first "general" superstition...
I've actually done some extensive (not really) testing about this superstition, but it seems to appear that my family thinks I'm mildly berserk. Anyway, I believe that the white dots on a granny smith apple (or "freckles") make the apple more crunchy and gives it a more sour taste. Unfortunately, there hasn't been very much research conducted pertaining to these dots, and I don't know very much about them.
