Does this mean I'll stop getting "minecraft has run out of memory" errors and make the SG playable for me?
Because at the moment thats not the case .

easy; just wait until the game currently on is over, then you will all be tp'ed to the lobby. from there you can chat and make alliances for about 5 minutes, after which you'll be teleported to SG map, as a tribute!
