You do realize the same people who run contests and do fun little things that take a few minutes to set up also do other work.. but they're also not developers and not those responsible for making plugin changes.

How is it any less work for XAC development by having a contest?

what im tryin' to say is that people get a bit disappointed when there are no news about stuff that everyone cares about, and the first annunciament in weeks is about ugly sweaters.
