MCSG's first constructive criticism.Hello, I've recently had the chance to explore The Rugged Land, heres what I thought about it.
First, the corn reminds me of of a hybrid between Breeze and SG3, which is a good thing since both are amazing corns. I sould say its more like three, which takes place in a hole in the middle of a giant mountain. However, this takes place in a huge crater in the ground, but still retains the few exits idea SG3 had.
The map itself is sort of like a mountionus map with few building/places of intrest. Of course, one may instantly think of Hungry Hills when I describe it like that, because, well, it is simular to hungry hills. However, the mountains aren't as huge as Hungry Hills, but yet they still look pretty impressive. This also brings up a flaw of this map. There are several spheres in the map that are obiously world edited in. I was assured that this would be fixed before release, and I hope it will.
Their are some structures in this map. Their isn't very many of them, and they are kind of generic, but they are diffrent enough that you can tell them apart. But building wise, where this map really shines is the boats. Their is two of them, a ship wrecked underneath a lake, and a Viking ship that has two tier one chests and a tier two in in. These boats are so amazing looking, I can forsee many intimidations of them. And one final note, the chests are very well placed in this map. The tier one chests are kind of easy to find, but the tier two chests are harder to find, but when you find them, its very rewarding.
Over all, on Nilsy's Three point scale, this map earns.......... A 2.7
Plus
Cons
- Looks impresive
- Chests well placed
- Corn is amazing
Very well, hobo, very well.
- World edit spheres
- Most structures arn't that impressive.
Here's what I think about the map:
As what Daalexantor said, the cornucopia itself is a direct hybrid of SG3 and Breeze's. But still retains the tunnels SG3 has. I see that you could also escape by climbing. However, who would waste a minute just to climb when you can directly run through? You should have a reason on why to climb up there, like the tunnel has traps.
Secondly, does this have any complicated redstone? If it isn't, then the dedication to the map is just isn't enough.
Thirdly, the amount of obvious WE spheres is, well, too obvious. You might want to do some smoothing on the spheres.
Out of the common scale of 10, I'd give this an 8.
Advantages :
- Big map, but is actually small, therefore giving a false security
- Not too extremely mountainous
- No ocean (oceans = bad)
- Significant lack of structures
- Obvious WE spheres
