If this is in the wrong section please move it.

Dear fellow minecrafters,

It has come to my attention that not only players but staff don't understand the meaning of Hacking/Modding. First of all we will start with modding because that the thign that EVERYONE should already know, Modding is modifying your game in anyway, example changing of texture pack or adding various mods such as Yogbox. Now on the other hand Hacking which for some unknown reason your staff and other players seem to think "Nodus" is hacking. Nodus is a cheat client and it is "Modifying" the game. Hacking defined in the right term, means to gain unauthorized access, such as a year or two ago when playstation network was "Hacked" and credit card ect. were stolen. I hope this paragraph helped you understand about the difference of Hacking and Modding.

Thank you for your time,
James Davidson (iPromptJames)

P.S. Modding to gain achievement is sad, Modding to have fun is where it's at.

No Hacked or Modded clients are allowed EVER:
  • Any suspicion of using a client can earn a temp ban or a permanent ban depending on the situation.
  • Users are allowed to post Ban Disputes if user was banned by suspicion
  • Anything outside of a vanilla client that provides an unfair advantage (x-ray, minimap, radar's, forcefields, speedhacking, ect.) is considered modded or hacked! If you use mods to increase your FPS or textures like the watermod, it's OK! We just dont like the ones where you modify your characters performance.
  • User can only be banned if the administration witness it or solid video evidence provided by the users.
  • If you are caught or the administration has suspicion of you using hacks, your ranking and leaderboard scores are subject to be reset to the defaults.
  • Nodus, whether a mod or a hack is still not allowed. And everyone else seems to understand our terminology
  • Hacking/Modding are essentially the same thing, only one term is used in a more positive way while the other in a negative.

modding minecraft can lead to hacking it depends how you mod you minecraft. Like if you get x-raying it is hacking because you maybe changed the minecraft client but it is not fair for other players that plays fairly.

Example of a game when its called hacking Call of duty (wall hack or aimbot is hacking nobody says its a modded game). So i do not know why in minecraft it should change people se trow wall it will be called hacking and not modding.

you will never see somebody in a game saying "Omg he modded his minecraft client he can see trow walls" they will say "(waterer the name of the guy) is hacking" and maybe say what kind of hack he have or mod if you prefer it this way.

the_french_guy Maybe it's because the average age level for minecraft is 12, and cod is maybe 14. But with minecraft the mods are readily available making it something you see often, so if someone says it's a hack then alot of people will start calling it that, where with say black ops it's rare to find someone modding a lobby therefore more people would be calling it modding.

in both ways it is changing the gameplay, hacking will change the gameplay of any games for everybody, and modding would do the same, depending on what he did.
