There's not really a better way to give out the awards. Who exactly deserves it is pretty subjective, so its left up to the community to decide who is deserving. Sometimes people might be passed over that might be deserving of recognition, but unless a dedicated panel is put up to examine every possible candidate and decide who is best (which still might not even be the "correct" choice) there's no way to really tell who is better. Obviously its really not worth doing something like that, so the best we can hope for is for people to discuss who they think is deserving and try to consider multiple different people before voting.Personally I don't like the "5 people with most nominations thing" because if someone who actually deserves the award isn't even thought of cause they're not "popular" they have no chance. At the moment I can't think of another more convenient way this could have been done but I'm just putting in my opinion.
The thing that irritates me though is that you know that people are lowkey telling people to nominate them and thats shady. I have a pretty good idea already of whos gonna win the foruming awards and thats sad. I can't say much because I'm not running this but I wish there were a smoother way for things to go that gave everyone the fair chance that people rarely get. There's not really a better way to give out the awards. People telling others to vote for them kinda ticks me off too. It definitely does have an impact and it can detract from the experience. So hopefully the staff can quell people doing this sort of stuff. If any nominee is caught using social media to their advantage to gain more votes (Eg; twitter posts saying “vote for me for best VIP!”), fabricating multiple submissions of the form for extra votes, or swaying public opinions in any way to win an award, they will be immediately removed from nominations, and possibly blacklisted from future MCGamer awards.
I'm going to be completely honest here, I had no idea this "OTP" thing was so widespread.People who are whining about some categories are kind of missing the point. It's meant to be for fun. But some of y'all just don't want people to enjoy themselves do you? Must be 100% serious all day every day!
Also some people take their community OTPs very seriously. The shipping wars are real.
