Live with it, if you're good enough you can always take teams out, because in general, people who team isn't that good

9 times out of 10, this.

Easy ways to kill off a team:
  • Wait for restock. They have two people, so obviously nobody would dare attack them/one will watch the other's back without being told to. Whoops, now they both have their faces in chests. HERP DERP.
  • Climb a ladder. One of the two is usually stupid enough to chase you. Let gravity say hello. DERP HERP.
  • Fight them in a confined space (1 block wide) where you have an escape route behind you, forcing them to come at you in a single-file line. What's that, there's team damage in this game? DURR HURR DERP.
  • Stalk and taunt them. Usually, one will stop to respond. If the other isn't looking, it's stabby time. HERP DURR DERP DUM.
How to tell if a team is likely bad?
  • One guy has full iron while the other has leather, leatherman has the diamond sword while irondude has a wooden axe. Go take that sword off his hands. Maybe take his hands as well. Strong weapons and weak armor do not mix on a team.
  • They're chatting in text. That everyone can read. HEY GUISE LETS GO TO THE AIRPORT
  • They spend forever at chests, dividing up loot immediately instead of doing it later, once they actually have loot to share.
  • They separate by more than 15-20 blocks fairly often, leaving one cut off from the other.
  • They both stare at chests/crafting tables/furnaces/their inventory screens at the same time, leaving nobody watching either of their backs.
  • They seem confused or disorganized, with no clear path or objectives.
  • The instant you attack one, they run to hide behind the other even though they have better gear than their friend does, and perhaps without even counterattacking first.
Seriously, teams are bads 9/10 times. Use that to your advantage. The single advantage they have is that they can deal twice as much damage over the same amount of time. Don't get boxed in, and you're fine.

I find teaming just to be more fun to play this game. First, in some cases, I like to help people that aren't as good as me. Or, Ive teamed with team before and now we always team since then. ( sometimes I'm bored of solo ) I agree, most teams are bad but there are those good teams that pop up every now and then. Oh and the fact that teams are "unfair" you can get a team if you really want one. Its called saying, "Anyone want to team?" Easy way to deal with teams for me is to run towards another player. Chances are, hell completely miss you and he will end up fighting the team. Thats when you go back to help defeat them. Or, you can fight them off there if you feel they are bad enough. Water fights with fishing rods help too because u can push the other teamate away to deal with one of them. FLint and steel works because normally if one of them is on fire, they will back off letting you deal with his teamate. These are just little tactics to use when fighting a team that I find that work if they are too skilled to be dealt with normal pvp.

I used to hate teams...I used to hate hackers, too...(technically still do, but I meant in a sense that they always killed me and I was getting annoyed.)

...I have made many large posts/"essays" that have never made it to the forums because I caught myself and said to myself "this is stupid...I can think of a few arguments to counter my own, this will get nowhere." I admit, that a long while back, in my first week on these servers, I was very close to making a huge post about why teams were imbalanced and I highly disliked them. (never would have asked for them to be banned, though.) I don't blame you for thinking allowing teams makes it feel wrong and imbalanced...but I've learned several things over time by playing on these servers.

You can get better and take them down - even huge teams up to 6 are possible. (unless their pros, then you're probably going to die.) Heck, I've been against a team of 4 pros before, took down two of them, almost three before they finally got me down - I had less gear than all of them and was the only one left alive aside from them. Sure, I didn't win, but I got a lot closer than I would have when I first started playing, and they didn't feel as overpowered as they used to - not nearly.

But mainly, I told myself that stopping teaming, even only large teams, would ruin it for many people. I have a few friends myself that enjoy playing with me, and up until recently when we all became busy with random things, we played everyday, as a team...not because we needed to play together to win (well...one of them did. :3) but because it was just fun to play with friends - many teams you see may not actually be teaming for a better chance to win at all - maybe they are just having fun, and who's to stop that fun? (Well, possibly the person who kills them...but that's a part of the game. :p)

Your best bet is to overcome teams instead of attempting stopping them from happening. Even the large teams are possible with practice if you play it smart, I know I'm nowhere near the only person who has taken down a team of 6, (7 if you count the guy the last member of their team asked to team with in deathmatch.) and that was back before Breeze was even added...back when I sucked. xD
