Hello MCGamer! This thread here is a discussion to sort out some issues this community has with certain words. I will not mention certain cases, it would help in the clarity with this thread, but I don't want to bring it up due to banning.

There are words that can mean offensive things in other cultures, even with same language.

For example, the word "sick" is a meaning for "ill", but also can mean "cool" or "awesome". So one could see the negative meaning instead of the positive.

These misconceptions could lead to situations where one party is using a word casually as it is no harm in their understanding, where another party finds it unusual or offensive.

So why am I writing this? The community (including staff) has a natural tendancy to play victim roles. That should end. We need to step up our game. I don't really know how else to end this thread.
I've also found that a lot of miscommunication can happen between cultures, where one word is harmless in one but is extremely offensive in another.

In general, before getting offended at someone else try to think of where they're from, if you know that, and just be mature about things c:

I believe this issue can be solved with a simple use of words. If someone ever has a problem with how a word was used or if they thought it was offensive, they should politely ask the way they ment to use that word. Now, if the intention was ment to be offensive, that is not right and they the victim should get an apology. If it was a mix up, both people should try and talk it over and see where things went wrong. Finally, the victim could say something along the lines of "Please don't use that word or phrase around me". That's all it takes. This way no one is offended anymore and the issue is resolved. I think minor problems like this can and should be solved with words. :)
Yep.

It's just how people want to interpret it honestly.
