Solo SG is finally the first gamemode that can be used to most accurately judge who the best and most dedicated MCSG players are, without the instances of teaming and accusations of boosting. I enjoyed myself while playing Solo SG today, and had the most fun I'd had while playing Minecraft in quite a while. Aside from the small bugs here and there that can be fixed in the snap of your fingers, the gamemode itself runs very smoothly and something I didn't think I'd like turned out to be the thing I'll be playing a whole lot of in these upcoming months.
The problems? Well, the player cap per game seems to be a bit small. I understand there may have been an effort to capture the "solo" feel by reducing the amount of players per game, but in all reality this gamemode should not vary too far from the actual Survival Games. From a personal and logical standpoint, I don't necessarily see anything wrong with upping the cap to 24 player games, this would make them of regular size again, giving everyone the Survival Games feel that was previously achieved. Also, the notion that games only need 3 people to start is very scary. I could easily just find servers that are 5 seconds from joining and get two alternate accounts to boost me, and it would be super easy. Also, I played a couple of games that only had 4-6 players in the start, and they were hardly longer than 3 minutes because people would die off of spawn and then I'm left in deathmatch with one person with a stone sword and me, who didn't even have the chance to scour the map for a weapon.
I'd like to suggest 24, if not at least 18 player games with a minimum of 9-12 players to start. This keeps the Survival Games feel that we all know, love, and judge skill on.
